About Our Worship Ministry

The Music and Worship Ministry of Second Baptist is committed to exalting the Savior, edifying the saints and evangelizing the sinner in all music selected and presented each and every week. Our method is music, our message is Jesus, and our reason is eternity. If you are interested in using your talents to serve God through music, we have a place just for you! We offer adult and graded children’s choirs, as well as adult orchestra. In addition, our Music Ministry offers many opportunities to serve through the performing arts such as drama, or by assisting with props, staging, costumes, and more. Come sing or bring your instrument and play with us. We have a place for you and your entire family to use your talents to LIFT JESUS HIGHER!

Vocal Ministries

Adult Choir

The Adult Choir is for those 18 years of age and older who want to use their talents to serve God in singing, and are committed to this purpose., If this is your desire, you are welcome to join the SBC Church Choir. We sing every Sunday in the 10:30 AM worship service and on occasional Sunday evenings. We rehearse on Wednesdays from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM with a “Second Mile” rehearsal on Sundays from 5:15 PM to 6:15 PM. Rehearsals are held in the Choir Rehearsal Room (Music Suite) behind the Main Auditorium. For more information on the Adult Choir, contact our Worship Pastor, Gary Morton, at: (478) 923-7101.

Instrumental Ministry

Church Orchestra

Our Church Orchestra is made up of musicians who love the Lord and seek to use the gifts and talents that He gave them to glorify their Creator. The Church Orchestra is the primary instrumental ensemble that leads in worship each Sunday morning and evening as well as for other special events. While musical skill and ability is important for each member to possess (Ps. 33:3), we believe that the attitude of the heart is superior. If a musician can play or sing perfectly without a heart of sacrifice and servitude, it is but noise (1 Cor. 13:1). We strive to do everything with excellence (Col. 3:23), knowing that God demands our best. If you are an instrumentalist and are interested in learning more about joining the Church Orchestra, contact Gary Morton. You may also call the SBC music office at (478) 923-7101.
