September 8, 2021 Update:
Dear Second Family,
The past few weeks have brought great joys as we have seen salvations, baptisms, and welcomed several
new families to Second on Sundays. Though the world rages with the pandemic, hurricanes, and global
upheaval, God is still at work and the gospel is still changing lives!
At the same time, we grieve the lives lost to COVID-19 in our church. Our church leadership is praying for
healing in our Second Family, community, and the world as cases continue to spike. Because of this, we are
going to continue to press “pause” on Family Nights at Second on Wednesday evenings, even after Labor
Day. I am disappointed, but I am confident this is what is best for our church at this time. Our church staff
continues to plan and pray for when we are able to safely and responsibly start AWANA, Adult Bible Studies,
Wednesday Night Suppers, Student Midweek Worship, and more. We do not take this decision lightly, but we
are taking things day by day in light of the delta variant and case numbers in our area.
I want to close by reminding you of the goodness of God. Remember, God took the Israelites out of captivity
in Egypt and desired to give them a land flowing with “milk and honey.” In between Egypt and the Promised
Land was the wilderness. Right now, you may feel like you are in the wilderness of unknowns, confusion, and
grief. I told you that “milk” represents God’s daily provisions for us and “honey” represents God’s long-term
provision for us. God will meet you where you are today, and He will continue to meet you each and every
day of your life with new mercies each morning, no matter the state of this world. I pray you will rest in those
promises as you share His truth to others during this time.
Love in Christ,
Family Nights at Second have been postponed until further notice.
Update August 23, 2021:
